LaTEACH ‘Louisiana Together Educating All Children’

Mission

” LaTEACH promotes appropriate, inclusive education for all students. We work to make parents, educators, the general public, and state leadership informed and supportive of research based and effective practices used appropriately for each student.”

LaTEACH believes: Parents, relatives, friends, teachers, administrators, higher education professionals, policymakers, and other interested need a reliable way to get timely accurate information. Schools are the place students build enduring relationships with friends who will be neighbors, co-workers, employers, and future members of a church family. Schools need parental involvement and advocacy in building a sustainable system to support the needs of all students and to produce meaningful educational outcomes for all.

LaTEACH is working to recruit families and other interested persons statewide to receive pertinent information on laws, proposed legislation, administrative policies and other issues that impact students. We will work to coordinate member advocacy statewide through listserves, phone trees, and volunteer teams organized throughout the state by our 4 area coordinators. We will work to educate teachers, administrators, higher education professionals and policymakers on issues that impact our students.

We will be conducting a statewide survey and needs assessment in order to gather information on ways that we can best assist families to be more involved in their student’s educational program at the local, district and state levels. This information will also be used to identify issues that are adversely affecting our students. Action plans will then be developed in order to better educate and inform school administrators, policymakers and legislators as to the needs of our students statewide, and to affect systems change at the local, district and state level in order to promote appropriate validated practices for all Louisiana students.
