Disability Rights Day

A statewide Disability Rights Day is held annually at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge.  The day is usually held during the first few weeks of the Legislative Session.  It is an opportunity for LaCAN members to visit individually with their legislators and to gather on the steps of the Capitol in their yellow LaCAN t-shirts to demonstrate a "sea of yellow" in support of home and community-based services.  “A Waiting List is NOT a Service!” -- in reference to the thousands of Louisiana citizens waiting for waiver services --has been the rallying cry year after year.
